1. Hanging loop on back of a shirt
There are three theories behind this loop at the back of the shirt, one is understood that it’s for hanging purpose, the other purpose was meant to tie the collars of the shirts when they were removable at one time, and the final is meant to indicate a girl that the man is single, and by having it removed, it meant the man is not single.
2. The Power cable cylinder
Surely you must have observed a cylinder on the power cord of your laptop. It’s called the ferrite bead, which suppresses the high-frequency noise within the electronic circuits, like when the cell phone comes too close in contact and interferes with the laptop, giving a weird screeching sound.
3. Little hole in an airplane’s window
There are two reasons for the hole, one is to balance the air pressure between the inner area of the window panes and the cabin of the airplane when it reaches the cruising altitude. The other is to prevent fogging up of the windows.
4. Eraser’s blue part
Eraser is also one of the everyday things where we know that the blue part is meant to erase the pen ink. But actually, it’s meant to use it on thick paper as it is a harder side and the pink side is softer. That’s why with the blue side you manage to erase clean, the mark on the paper.
5. Shirt with horizontal buttonholes
Shirts are among the everyday things we use, where we have seen this first and last buttonhole of shirts being horizontal, with all the other holes being vertical. The reason is that the first and last button often needs to be intact and not open easily, hence, the horizontal holes gives the button a better fastening and grip.
6. Sneakers extra eyelets
Those extra holes on your sneakers have a purpose, those holes keep that edge part firm plus fixed and do not allow it to rub against your ankles while running.
7. Sneakers side eyelets
The intention of the designers making those holes on the bottom of the converse training shoes was for ventilation purpose, as it was supposed to be perfectly fitting the feet without much space being given for movement. Therefore it gets some air passing.
8. Hole on the Spaghetti spoon
The purpose of the hole being there in the spaghetti spoon is to get the correct measurement and amount of pasta required to eat.
9. Jeans small pockets
Levi’s invented the small pocket in their jeans in 1873. The actual purpose behind was to hold the pocket watches and is officially known as the ‘watch pocket.’
10. Jeans rivets
In the early days, the jeans would fall off from the worker’s waist, who worked with them on. Then they found a way to hold them up when some rivets would just strengthen the jeans in the most prominent parts, which would hold them from falling.
11. Ballpoint pen cap hole
The real purpose is that by accident if a child swallows the cover and gets choked, then this hole will reduce the risk of suffocation and will keep the airway free from closing.
12. Extra fabric with the new clothes
You may have thought it’s meant for patches, well, you didn’t know, that it’s actually meant to check out, how the material reacts to different washing detergents. Hence, you get an idea which detergent suits your clothes.
13. Measurement tape hole
The purpose for the little hole is to hook onto nails or screws safely when measuring, without the tape measure slipping off.
14. Measurement tape serrated edge
This is surely something you didn’t know. It is meant to mark a point when measuring as both hands are occupied using the measuring tape. Hence the serrated edge helps in marking for later reference.
15. Gas gauge arrow
Many surely didn’t know this while driving a car. This arrow basically indicates which side of the car is the gas tank cap, especially when you’re driving a rented vehicle. Makes it easier for you to park the vehicle at a gas station for refueling at the right direction.
16. Curvy side of Bobby pin
This is one of the everyday things which women use and just in case you didn’t know, that the curvy side is the bottom of the pin and should face toward the scalp. It allows the hairpin hold the hair better, making it comfy and restful.
